H & K, Chatham Lighthouse Beach

A dreamy Cape Cod engagement session, trying something new from my typical style, and absolutely loving it all.

H reached out to me because she was vacationing with her family and fiancé on the cape (for those who aren’t locals, it’s what we call Cape Cod). She found a photo that I posted and tagged on Instagram from her future wedding venue at Eolia Mansion in Harkness Park and saw I was local to Massachusetts. She has an artistic eye with a specific vision, and had a few ideas she was hoping I could bring to life that she didn’t see on my portfolio.

I just want to start by stating that I always, always, always will be down to try something new. Just shoot me a message to explain what you’re envisioning, and let’s see if we can make it happen.

When she filled out my engagement session questionnaire and sent a few inspo shots, I was in love.

She wanted the opposite of cookie cutter. She wanted romantic, dreamy, but playful. She loves blur and filmy out-of-focus vibes so I was excited to try something a little new, but maintain some of my own style.

And when we met, they ran with my direction even though I heard the very common phrase that being in front of the camera was a bit uncomfortable (but you’d never know by looking at them). I shared with them my biggest tip which is to try your best to let go and just keep moving. Which is exactly what they did, with my prompting, and without any awkward pressure. This is what makes your photos feel natural, feel candid, and quite honestly where you get those emotional in-the-moment images.

I made a few tweaks with my settings throughout our time together that I haven’t typically done, and oh.my.goodness do I love how they turned out.

And I just need to mention that I absolutely cannot wait to be part of their beautiful wedding day at Eolia this year.
